AMS is a helpful tool for aeronautical chart production in an interactive graphic environment, introducing users to graphically based chart creation and editing without requiring an aeronautical database. It can be used as an entry-level tool to introduct cartographers accustomed to manual chart production to an automated environment.
To create a digital chart, the cartographer uses AMS to place text, symbols and other graphic components into a projected chart file, maintaining a scaled spatial relationship with other components. AMS is also delivered with a library of aeronautical symbols compatible with International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) standards. Symbols can be added or modified in the library to produce a chart according to custom specifications.
To quickly place text and symbols at known coordinates, AMS users can create a text file containing a list of text and/or symbols and their associated coordinates. At the user/s command, AMS will read this file and automatically place the text and/or symbols at the projected coordinates in the chart file.
AMS also offers the following interactive functions for obtaining information or placing elements into the chart file:
AMS is already compatible with other IDS tools for AIS organisations and with all MGE and MicroStation based products.
IDS provides all necessary training and software maintenance. Through IDS maintenance the customer has the guarantee that the product will be kept aligned with all new functionalities of future releases.
