

The Alberta Geological Survey, along with the University of Alberta, has installed the innovative ground-based interferometric radar designed and manufactured by IDS, the IBIS-L, to monitor the movements of Turtle Mountain. It is located around 250 Km South of Calgary (Canada) and is the location of the infamous Frank Slide, where a rock slide buried the town of Frank in 1903, killing 70 people.
As part of a monitoring program of the mountain, scientists from Alberta installed the IBIS-L late last year to give warnings should another catastrophic rockslide, becomes imminent.
